Overview

The Studio Director is responsible for developing integrated and effective operational processes, tools and touch points for the production of all still and motion assets for the company. The Director ensures all photo and video projects meet deadlines, budgets and creative resources are allocated in the best way for the department as a whole.

 

This role oversees all photo and video pre-and post- production for the company including e commerce, social media, editorial, direct mail, advertising, and digital photo shoots.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a seasonal production publishing calendar for visual, advertising, print and digital assets that aligns with the integrated marketing calendar.
  • Serve as key partner to Project Managers and oversee Photo Producers and Digital Asset Managers, external photo and retouch studios in the efficient production of all photo and video assets.
  • Manage the annual photo production budget for Creative Services including shoots, retouching and video; track/monitor project spending and ensure projects are completed within budget; issue monthly reporting to Finance department
  • Monitor creative production from inception to on-time completion and work with cross functional teams including merchandising, styling and marketing.
  • Oversee the Photo Producer, Associate Producer and Sample Coordinator in all bookings and shoot management including in hiring all photographers, talent, models, model castings, stylists, hair/make up, location scouts, studios. Ability to assess and negotiate all fees, usage and contracts and maintain monthly budget reporting.
  • Oversee the DAM (digital asset manager) to forecast, publish and archive photo & video assets and coordinate with e commerce team to continually improve product photography content and exposure online.
  • Creation and management of an E commerce Photo Studio: guidelines, standards and best practices, workflow, set up, digital asset management and budget. Management and maintenance of equipment and space.
  • Motivate, mentor and develop creative support staff; create an inspiring environment which promotes productivity, innovation and job satisfaction

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 10 years experience in project management, photo shoot & print production
  • Understanding of creative components, cycle times, production and distribution of print, digital and video deliverables; understanding of retail merchandising calendars a plus
  • Excellent leadership and facilitation skills; flexible and attuned to shifting priorities, ability to communicate precisely and influence across groups effectively
  • Collaborative and motivating team leader with demonstrated staffing, talent deployment and management skills.
  • Successfully operate within budgetary and schedule constraints.
